Video production.
In this tutorial we worked in small groups planing and creating a 30 second video.
After making our awesome video (the runaway) we set up a youtube account.
YouTube is a video sharing website where you can share, view and upload video clips. Before we uploded our video we had to register to youtube. If you are a registered user you are able to upload an unlimited amount of videos, but if you are an unregistered user you can still use youtube and watch the vidos that are put on by others.
Before making our video we made a storyboard and mini script which helped to decide what we were going to do in our video clip. We talked through some ideas and came up with the final idea together. We then put it together in a reasonable order. Storyboarding helped to keep the running of the film in line, and it helped us to know what we were to do next.

Tutorial 2: Digital Cameras use and aplication
In class we talked about digital cameras verse old film cameras. We discussed wehther there is there any advantages of to using a digital camera or a older particular one, through the discussion we fou a, and vise versa. I belive there are both positives and negative about both the digital cameras and the old styled ones.
The film based cameras (older cameras) brang back memories which i had breifly forgotten about. I was reminded of that exsiting suprise of what you were to get when you went t pick up the photos at the camera shop with mum. An advantage of the film based cameras also mean that you always have a copy of the photos. Compared to the digital cameras where photos are stored on the computer and you can choose the photos you want developed. With digital cameras you can delete the photos that you don't want to print, this meaning you never have to take a bad photo.
You need batteries in both film and digital cameras. with film cameras you need to buy film each time you develop a new film of photos. where as with digital cameras they just need a memory sticks. with digital images, they can be stored, and manipulated using a laptop. Photos can be emailed to friends or family. they can also be uploaded to share on sites such as bebo, facebook, flicker and myspace. Photos can be manipulated using photo shop to change the photo although digital photos are easy to take, transfer and manipulate, there are many ethical issues that need to be taken into consideration.
When Occupational Therapists (OT) take photos of clients or their equipment and how to use it informed consent is often needed.
With cameras on phones people are able to take photos in different situations where cameras may not be allowed, or where approprite, this has, and will continue to be a problem in todays society, whereations are breached.
Because of the increase in technology photos are more regularly being used in occupational therapy practice. Community OTs take photos when they are taking part in activity's to document and show the clients activities within a group. photos are also used to show how clients are seated in wheel chairs.

Tutorial One: Information Technology and Ethical issues
Tutorial One... Information technology (IT) is defined as:
The production, storage and communication of information using computers and micro electronics.Hanks, P. (ed). (1989) Collins Concise Dictionary. Glasgow: Bath press.
Considering this definition, IT. IT is prevalent in our society! So many different devices come under the term IT, some include computers, TV's, DVD players, mp3 players, cell phones, the use of the Internet. The IT devices which I feel most comfortable using is my cellphone, (not necessarily others) computers, (Internet). After experiencing my fieldwork placements i have become very aware of the need for different IT devices in Occupational therapy (OT) practice. I have found in the last two settings i have worked in that it is most commonly used to store medical notes and to communicate with other therapists or staff members. Also there is importance of Cell phones in OT practice as cell phones allow quick and effective communication, they are a form of security and in emergency situations. They are often used to keep in touch with clients, which as an OT is highly important. When using IT devices we must consider the ethical considerations, these being security and privacy, such as working in a setting where you contact clients through your cell phone. It is very important to only use the 'OT' staff self phone. and not to give out personal information or specific details to clients. It is important to keep your private and work phone separate.
Computer ethics, a branch of practical philosophy which deals with how computing professionals should make decisions regarding professional and social conduct.(retrieved 10Th march www.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer_ethics). A safe way to protect ourselves as therapists in practice is by presenting informed consent. This is a legal condition where a person can be said to have given consent based upon a clear appreciation and understanding of the facts, implications and future consequences of an action.Retrieved 10Th March (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Informed_consent)
Intellectual property, (IP) refers to creations of the mind: inventions, literary and artistic works, and symbols, names, images, and designs used in commerce. The term IP reflects that this subject matter is the product of the mind and that IP rights may be protected the same way as any other form of property.
Considering those who don't have the access as others might, is called Social Justice and refers to those who have limited or no access to IT. Because of this they are unable to share in the benefits and opportunities of others."Social justice requires that society develops policies and practices to more fully include people who in the past had limited access to computer resources" an Example of Social justice could be the poor. Knowledge of technology (IT) i believe is virtually vital in OT practice. Knowledge of ethical issues in IT is similar to ethical issues we come across in practice, obtaining confidentiality and privacy for our clients etc. This topic IT and the ethic s around this is very important in our particular practice (OT). I believe a lot of people just 'brush' it off, however it is a area where we need to be very carefully and aware of the Ethics and implications.

Tutorial Six. The internet and online communities
Face Book
www.facebook.com
I believe the focus of this community is to keep in touch with family and friends. It is a community where you can shear thoughts, feelings and pictures with others. Facebook is also a place where you can meet others and find long lost friends.
People contribute to this site by writing information about themselves, adding and tagging photos to share with others and sharing thoughts and ideas.
Services provided on face book include your own profile page which is a space where you have the ability to notify friends about themselves. users have the ability to upload photos and videos and send both private and public messages. a public message would show up on the persons profile, where everyone else can read it, however the private message is only able to be read by the person themselves.
I believe people join facebook to seek various things. Some including, making new friends, finding old friends, talking to current friends. Keeping up to date with gossip, or just to join in on the latest craze.
Topics being discussed of face book involve lots of different things. Whats happening in their lives, social events, activities, what they are going to do in the weekend, where the are going and so on. people are constantly updating their profile as their life events change or occur and conversations between friend can last for week and weeks. then when other friend come online users are able to chat instantly.
Potential ethical issues that may arise with getting an account with face book is that others can potentially see very personal information, even if they are not added as a friend they can always go on line under one of their friends accounts who has you added as a friend. People can also upload photos of you which you have not given consent. Users can give out too much personal information and the threat of sexual predators. Data theft, or viruses. People can create a fake identity and profiles, as a result people become mislead.
The benefits of this site compared with older ways of communication is that you can see the person you are talking to (through photos). You can write a message and it almost instantly can be seen by the other person who could be on the other side of the world. It allows for silent observation prior to participation, and individuals are able to have equal voice
The aspects that this online community lacks in relation to traditional communities. is that you carnt have actual face to face communication, there is potential for misuse and often delusions and reliy on virtual communities. There is not always valid information being shared and only people with computers and Internet are able to join the communities.
